Sayari, the transparency company that provides immediate visibility into complex commercial relationships, is delighted to announce that Gaven Smith CB, a distinguished and internationally respected technology leader, has joined as the company’s newest advisor.

Smith previously held one of the most senior roles within the UK government in his near 30 year career. As Director General for Technology at GCHQ, the UK’s intelligence, security, and cyber agency, Smith oversaw critical decisions that impacted national security across a range of technologies, including large-scale computation, telecommunications, and information security. Smith also managed research, investment, and operations for a wide array of critical infrastructure nationwide and led a large team of highly specialized technical professionals both domestically and abroad.

“I have spent my entire career transforming data into insights and putting it in the hands of decision makers to reduce harm, minimize risk, and make a difference in the world we live in,” said Smith. “Sayari is no exception. In an increasingly complex threat environment, I can’t wait to see what we can do to support organisations around the world as they work to understand and respond to threats.”

Smith is also a passionate advocate for inclusion in engineering, sponsoring multiple development programs for underrepresented groups in technology. He served as the Board-level champion for the LGBT+ community at GCHQ.

“We are honored to welcome Gaven to Sayari,” said Benjamin Power, Sayari COO and Co-Founder. “His expertise in national security, critical infrastructure, and cutting-edge technology aligns perfectly with Sayari’s mission as we continue to expand our capabilities globally to intelligence organizations looking to stay ahead of emerging threats.”
Smith’s appointment to the Advisory Board follows that of former UK Fraud Chief Simon York CBE. These recent board appointments underscores Sayari’s commitment to providing data-driven solutions that empower investigators across the UK and globally to combat illicit networks.
