Understanding and Preparing for the European Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)

1 minute read

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), forests are disappearing at a rate of 10 million hectares per year, accelerating the effects of climate change and fueling biodiversity loss. In an effort to slow and eventually reverse this trend, the European Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), effective December 2025 for large businesses, requires corporations trading commodities like palm oil, soya, coffee, and cocoa to prove compliance with stringent sustainability standards.

Covered companies will be mandated to assess and document their suppliers’ sourced land, deforestation history, and compliance with local laws and human rights standards. Non-compliance can lead to exclusion from the EU market, increased costs, and reputational risks.

On Thursday, April 10th at 2pm GMT, Lise Smit, Business and Human Rights Adviser for Norton Rose Fulbright, and Colby Potter, Lead Analytical Content Manager at Sayari, will host a webinar covering:

  • The EUDR’s provisions, timeline, and penalties
  • How the EUDR will likely impact covered entities
  • What companies can do to begin preparing for the EUDR’s effective date

Join us to get your EUDR questions answered and learn more about protecting your organization from deforestation risk.
