Sayari, the transparency company that provides immediate visibility into complex commercial relationships, announces the appointment of Lieutenant General (Ret.) Mark “Chris” Nowland to its Advisory Board. His extensive experience in national security and defense will accelerate Sayari’s goal of providing government agencies with key intelligence insights.

Chris’ distinguished military career culminated in his role as the Air Force’s Chief of Staff for Operations, where he formulated policy supporting air, space, cyber, irregular warfare, counter proliferation, and homeland security. Chris recently completed a five year term as an Air Force Senior Mentor at Air University at Maxwell Air Force Base.

“We are proud to welcome Chris Nowland to our Advisory Board,” said Sayari COO and Co-Founder Benjamin Power. “Chris’s 33 years of military experience focused on operational excellence is a powerful addition to the capabilities we bring to US Government partners in their pursuit of more efficient vendor threat mitigation and securing defense supply chains.”

Prior to his role as Chief of Staff for Operations, Chris held numerous leadership positions in the Air Force, including Commander of the 12th Air Force; Chief of Staff & Director for Strategy, Policy, and Plans at U.S. Southern Command; Director of Plans, Programs, Requirements, and Assessments at Randolph AFB; and the Commander of the 71st Flying Training Wing. Chris has flown combat operations in support of Southern Watch and Iraqi Freedom. He is a Command Pilot with over 3,500 hours in the F-15, A-10, T-38, T-6 and T-37.

“Sayari has established technology leadership and an impressive track record of supporting critical national security objectives in the government,” said Lieutenant General (Ret.) Nowland. “Their mission is critical to enabling our warfighters today, and I’m excited to partner with my fellow advisors to help Sayari further grow its ability to deliver actionable insights to our defense community.”

Chris’ appointment to Sayari’s Advisory Board follows the late 2024 addition of national security expert Mike Kuiken. The hiring of both advisors comes at a pivotal moment as the company continues its expansion, establishing itself as the trusted source of truth for public and private sector organizations navigating complex global risks.
