John Foote is a partner and head of the customs practice at Kelley Drye & Warren in Washington DC. John is an advisor to companies and a widely recognized expert on Section 307 of the Tariff Act of 1930, the U.S. forced labor import ban. He is also the author of a Substack newsletter called Forced Labor and Trade, where he provides analysis and commentary on “the most interesting law in the world.” John was previously a partner with the law firm Baker McKenzie and began his legal career clerking for Judge Gregory Carman at the U.S. Court of International Trade.

Correen Wood is a licensed attorney with over nineteen years of experience in compliance with a focus on Trade Compliance and Customs. This includes due diligence, classifications, licensing, auditing, internal investigations, and representing companies before various regulators in the U.S. and internationally. Most recently, Correen led the Compliance Counsel team at Samuel, and before that, she was head of Export Control USA and Trade Counsel for Airbus Americas.

Fred Waelter

Fred Waelter is Principal Consultant for Sustainable Supply Chains at BSI Consulting, based in St Louis, MO. Fred has worked in the topic of supply chain social accountability for 20 years, starting as a Social Auditor in Asia, and then moving on to develop and then manage the supply chain due social accountability due diligence programs of large brands and retailers, managing programs with thousands of audits taking place each year around the world. At BSI Consulting, Fred now supports all steps of the supply chain in risk assessments; due diligence and investigations’ traceability evaluations to confirm origin of products, components, and raw materials; and training and capacity building. Fred was a former Executive Board member of the Association of Professional Social Compliance Auditors (APSCA); is an approved Auditor for the International Finance Corporation (IFC) under the World Bank, able to perform assessments against the IFC’s Performance Standards (PS); and is also an approved Auditor for Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) initiative. Fred is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese, with working proficiency in French, German, and Japanese.
