Leveraging Open Data and Graph Analytics To Mitigate PEP Risk In Brazil

08/19/21 2 minute read

Politically exposed persons (PEPs) continue to pose risks to institutions, but identifying and monitoring PEPs and their related global assets can be difficult. Luckily, we can combine public PEP and corporate data with graph analytics to better understand and mitigate PEP risk.

To show how this works at scale, we combined two Brazilian public data sources in a graph database. The analysis identified more than 35,000 corporate entities registered in Brazil that are directly linked to individuals listed in the country’s official PEP database.

Our findings demonstrate the power of public data and graph analytics not only to identify non-obvious PEP holdings, but also to support broader enhanced due diligence and risk mitigation efforts.
