Challenge
The automotive industry remains one of the most heavily scrutinized for its exposure to forced labor and other environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risks. From child labor in mines to forced labor in refineries, the global supply chain for lithium-ion batteries is particularly fraught with known and unknown labor violations. With these batteries among Clarios’ core product offerings, due diligence is paramount to averting the reputational damage so many other brands face as a result of enforcement.
Impact
In August 2024, Clarios entered a multi-year agreement leveraging the corporate ownership, trade, and risk data in Sayari Graph as part of their risk management initiative. The solution provides deep insight into third parties and automatically screens for 200+ risk indicators, enabling assessment of both direct and indirect relationships as well as continuous monitoring.

Scaling compliance resources to enable a new phase of growth
March 2025, Clarios announced a $6B investment in U.S. manufacturing. Compliance efficiencies newly established in partnership with Sayari will support the additional due diligence needed to scale domestic operations and meet emerging requirements, such as the Forced Labor Due Diligence Reporting Template (DDRT) that many auto industry giants will begin mandating in September.
